If you have recently discovered social media and feel confused, this is perfectly normal. The mass that is you and your social media presence is miniscule compared to the vast realm of space. The amount of time you exist on this planet, (and the amount of time the planet exists) is so incredibly small compared with the timeline of the rest of the universe, that doing anything may seem futile. However, it is at this point of the story that I like to fall back on an idea, which I hope will illuminate your personal path to social media enlightenment, as well as enlightenment in general. The idea is this: The meaning of life is for life to have meaning. Now ask yourself, "Why am I here?" You will find that you are not alone. Some ask this question while waiting in line at the grocery store, others ask it while watching the horizon as a storm approaches, and still others, late at night, while staring at a glowing computer screen. To this, I offer the idea that life is a series of events in which you find yourself, and in which you find others. The flip side also exists; a series of events in which you let go of yourself and in which you let go of others.I suggest, and I am not the first to do so, that we can do two profound things with our lives-listen and communicate. It is okay to listen, to be still, and listen. It is okay to create, and it can be wonderful to have relationships.
Technology changes, but the human desire to listen and communicate remains. So, if you have come this far, then you are ready to venture into the rabbit hole that is social media because communication is communication, whether it happens through a social media platform, or through face-to-face interaction between individuals.Kristen Nicole was a budding writer who would have had a rather sheltered childhood were it not for the online social networks she communicated through. AOL chat rooms, BlackPlanet, Friendster, MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter kept her in contact with her friends. Even when Kristen studied Biopsychology at the University of Michigan, she remained active in these networks because they enabled her to keep in contact with her friends in the undergraduate program. Kristen used social media to stay connected much in the same way people used to do with letters, phone calls, face-to-face visits, and even emails. While you may know Kristen today from Mashable. com, where she was their first employee and head writer, and also as the author of 'The Twitter Survival Guide,' there was a time when Kristen was new to social networks and social media. "Be genuine in building your networks," Kristen advises. "Otherwise customers will be turned off. Join the conversation-don't dominate it or impose yourself into it." The level of honesty that Kristen suggests is essential to effective online communication. "Use real names, real people from your business and engage others for personal as well as professional reasons."Social media platforms are like a galaxy; every day we learn a little more about it, and every day it moves a little further away.
Social media is, at its core, social. Online communication comes with rules, lessons, and messages just like face-to-face communication does. The key to effective online communication is to understand the signals you send and receive. Apply what you know about face-to-face communication to your online practices. You are, after all, representing yourself and your business, so communicate through social media to your customers with the same mindset you have when you see them in person. Virtual customers appreciate genuine online communication as much as they do a sincere handshake and smile.?? 2012 Jennifer L. Jacobson
"Marketing told us to see people as consumers; now we need to start seeing them as people 1st and consumers only 2nd, 3rd or 4th.For the last half century, Marketing has presented itself as a force for good in business: it alone amongst business disciplines puts the people who buy things at the heart of the company that makes the things they buy - "orienting all of the corporation's activities around satisfying the needs, wants and desires of the consumer" (as one pioneer put it).AHowever, the reality has turned to be rather less people-friendly: marketers and their agencies have come to view the economic aspects of the people-who-buy-your-stuff as being more interesting and important than the other (more interesting) things about them. Indeed, "consumer-" or "customer-orientation" has turned out to be just another excuse to advance the company's agenda at the expense of that of the-people-who-buy (think for example what a lopsided concept "consumer loyalty" is - them being loyal to the brand, foreswearing all others etc, rather than us making a real commitment to them)AAnd over time, we have come to see the-people-who-buy-your-stuff as people-whose-only-real-interest-is-in-buying-your-stuff.
The Social Revolution is making this look really silly and embarrassing - not to say, unhelpful: it turns out from the way that people are adopting and using the new technologies that people-who-buy-stuff are actually really interested in other people, talking to & with them; doing stuff together; sharing passions and interesting stuff they find; helping each other and all kinds of other regular human stuff that doesn't obviously have anything to do with the brands and marketing we thought was important to them (because they are to us).And they trust each other much more than they trust us - even people they've never met and never will - they trust more than they trust us.So we've got to get human. Human scale. Human-sensed. Human-interested. Human-kind. Helping the people-who-buy-stuff do what they do best - interact with other humans, for example.
Facebook has just added new application called EnemyGraph in their library last week. This Application will allow you to add enemies to your profile now. Facebook is well known for making friend lists in the profile but now with this application you can add your enemies to your Facebook Profile too. EnemyGraph is a new application, which is available for free to all Facebook users, which lets user add enemies to Facebook profile, which includes real victims from your friends list, or from other users of the application. With this, you can declare "war" on any person, product or any company that has a current profile on Facebook.
The Daily Mail reported that, as soon as one has declared someone or something an Enemy that will appear on the profile page, visible to other users of application. EnemyGraph is an attempt to further defines relationships between users and other entities across Facebook's social graph. At time of writing, five users had opened hostilities with the Twilight series of films, two had declared their opposition to tomatoes and one person had made an enemy of Nobel Prize-winning German author Thomas Mann. Dean Terry, the owner of this application of University of Texas at Dallas, describes the application as "Social Media Blasphemy" and predicted that Facebook will remove this application in future.'We give them a couple of weeks at best before they shut us down,' says Terry.Terry is now comparing his application to "Unlike" button of Facebook, which is very interesting to see what happens in shot future."Most social networks attempt to connect people based on affinities: you like a certain band or film or sports team, I like them, therefore we should be friends.
But people are also connected and motivated by things they dislike," Terry said."A few people have asked us about the potential for misuse. If you are not friends with someone, or not a user of the app, or generally not famous, you cannot be listed as an 'enemy'. We will also monitor the app closely for abuse," he added.Because of the fact that you can make pretty much any object, place, or thing that has a FB page an "enemy" EnemyGraph is in some ways an unfortunate name. So it's not just a list of people. In fact you can have an entire list with no people on it at all. In a way we are misusing the word "enemy" just as much as Facebook and others have misused "friend".
Any task within an organization is distributed wisely within a team to meet work deadlines without compromising with the quality. It can be a small team or a big team working from different offices. If a business functions from different locations, it requires a tool that can provide a platform for better team collaboration. In such cases, Microsoft SharePoint is of great help that provides features to help team members make and share schedules, discussions, new tasks and announcements from time-to-time. With SharePoint, a team has better ways to communicate the minutest details of the project to ensure transparency and clarity about the project. As every project varies from one another, it is important to know that the home page of the product displays customized data.
The data is planned out in the initial stages to streamline the entire work pressure. The data sets that are viewed on the SharePoint's Home page are called as Web Parts. The SharePoint Web Parts are sourced from list data, search results, web pages, forms etc. They are simply a way to highlight important information about the project to allow team members work as per the priority of tasks. The Web Parts are planned out as per the nature of the team. One thing to remember is that SharePoint Web Parts are those parts of information that are available on a SharePoint server. With all the benefits of easy view and access of important information of the project, you would of course like to implement on your SharePoint product. It is recommended to take help from SharePoint developers who will customize Web Parts as per the project goals to make the product efficient and effective to use.
To make the optimum use of SharePoint Web Parts, you must ensure that you are not including too many web parts on the home page. If you add a lot of web parts, you will end up scrolling down to view the information. After you have a SharePoint Web Part solution, you can increase or decrease the number of items that are not effective for the organization. It can be easily created by clicking the edit option on the home page and then choosing the suitable icon from the insert ribbon. So, choose the SharePoint development company and share your ideas to develop a custom solution that can help you have better collaboration between team-members working from different parts of the world.
The Timeline is one of the newest elements introduced by Facebook, and whether you have seen it coming or not, the Facebook Timeline Covers are now an integrated part of your profile. The new design that Facebook has come up with makes one think about a magazine - and not just any, but one that has you on the front page. Therefore, it is easy to recognize the purpose of the cover, and that is to put YOU in the spotlight. But it is, however, entirely up to you how you decide to stand out.For those of you familiar with the virtual environment, the Facebook Timeline Covers might seem (un)surprisingly similar to the header of a web-site. They serve the same purpose and bear the same marks of creativity. In other words, the more creative you are, the more attractive your cover will be, and thus, your profile will draw the attention of many online visitors.
The Facebook Timeline Covers offer the possibility of expressing your mood at a certain moment, or your overall character. After all, the fact that a picture speaks louder than a thousand words has been proven many times. The first and easiest way of customizing your cover is by setting a picture of you that already exists in your photo album, or by uploading one from your computer. Even if you are looking for a more sophisticated design, your way around it will not be rocket science, either. There are many websites out there that are dedicated to helping you find the right pattern for the process of cover customization.
For the ones who have a passion for photography, the Timeline cover is a reason of joy, as it will put your hobby in the spotlight, and implicitly, add some admirers to your friends list. As this cover is what visitors will first see when clicking your profile, it is recommended that you make it as representative as possible. However, beware. If you intend to use the cover as advertisement, Facebook reserves its right of closing your account at any time, without warning. Also, keep in mind that your Timeline Cover should not be less than 720 pixels wide, and they can be seen by anyone who accesses your profile, whether they belong to your friends list or not. Facebook Timeline Covers seem like a good addition, but it is up to you to make proper use of them.
